The Directorate was also charged with the preparation and updation of all central manuals on Customs and Central Excise. The Directorate is also required to help the Commissioners in scrutinising any local supplements or Departmental Manuals they may find necessary to issue.
Coordinating update of all CBIC Manuals
Vide BMB No. 62/09 issued vide F.No. 296/04/2009-CX-9 dated 20.10.2009 and 23.10.2009 the work of updating CBIC Manuals is being coordinated by DGPM. The Manuals are updated from time to time by way of issuing of circulars.

As the performance evaluation wing of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs [CBIC], it has been the endeavour of the Directorate General of Performance Management [DGPM] to evaluate the processes, been followed by the field formations, for ensuring optimum delivery of assured services to the stakeholders.
Setting up of goals, making Strategy and Annual Action Plan with laid parameters ensures scalability of the efficiency of the field formations to make the tax administration more effective.
