In the wake of re-organization and cadre re-structuring, the number of Commissionerate of CGST had gone up to 146 and DGPM is inspecting 1/3rd of the field formation in a year and it is ensured that all the Central Excise and Service Tax Commissionerate are inspected at least once in every 3 years.

Vide F.No. 296/02/2010-CEx- dt. 11.05.2010 issued by Secretary, CBIC it had been suggested that inspections are carried out as per BMB No. 32/10. In view of this, it is proposed and planned that inspections are be carried out in following manner:-

1. DGPM and its 5 Regional Units will primarily inspect Commissionerate Headquarters based on careful profiling of the risk parameters of the respective Commissionerate.
2. The primary responsibility for compliance of inspection notes drawn by DGPM in respect of a Commissionerate will rest with the Jurisdictional Chief Commissioner.
